Cross Country Faces The Field At The Frank Knott Classic

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Whitman College men's and women's cross country teams each placed 13th Saturday at the Frank Knott Classic, hosted by Whitworth University in Spokane.
The Whitman men competed over 8,000 meters, while the Blues women raced the 6,000-meter course in a field that included teams from across the region.

Whitman's runners used the meet as another opportunity to test themselves against a deep field as the teams continued their preparation for the Northwest Conference Championships later this month.

Lily Audette cracked the top 100 for the Blues in the women's 6000-meter, placing 97th (24.31.1). She opened the race strong with a sub-four minute first 1000-meter.

The men's side saw Turner Crocket deliver a solid showing with a 58th (25:25.3) place finish to lead Whitman. He was one of four Blues to crack the top 100, the others being Jack Rousseau, Quinny Stewart and Theo Lydgate. Crockett and Lydgate ran personal bests and Stewart posted a season best.

The Blues return to action Oct. 17 at the George Oja Invitational in Independence, Oregon, before traveling back to Independence for the Northwest Conference Championships on Oct. 31.
