Men's Soccer Scores Late, Secures Crucial WIn Over George Fox

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College men's soccer team secured a crucial 2-0 victory over George Fox University in Northwest Conference play at James Hayner Field. The win keeps Whitman just ahead of Pacific Lutheran, who also won today, in the race for the league which enters its final three games.

For much of the contest, both teams battled evenly, but the Blues (12-0-5, 11-0-2 NWC) broke through in the final 15 minutes with two late goals. Jude Clum-Stockton opened the scoring in the 77th minute off an assist from Riki Kobayashi. Then, in the 88th minute, Kobayashi himself doubled the lead, assisted by Lucas McAllister.

Whitman dominated possession and outshot the Bruins 20 to 9, applying relentless pressure late in the match. Goalkeeper Niclas Isensee preserved the clean sheet with four saves, while focusing the defense to withstand George Fox's limited chances. 

The Blues showcased patience and resilience, controlling the game's tempo before delivering decisive strikes in the closing minutes. This victory underscores Whitman's status as conference frontrunners as they head into the final stretch of the season.

The Blues close their home slate on Sunday against Lewis & Clark. Prior to the match, the Blues will honor their seniors for their years of contribution to Whitman soccer.
