Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Too Much For Pios On Senior Day

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College men's soccer team delivered a dominant Senior Day performance, defeating Lewis & Clark College 3-0 in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon at James Hayner Field. This vital victory keeps the Blues in command of their own destiny for their first outright conference championship and an unprecedented NCAA tournament berth.

Prior to the match, the Blues honored their seniors with a special celebration recognizing their years of service to Blues soccer.

The win keeps the Blues (13-0-5, 12-0-2 NWC) two points ahead of Pacific Lutheran who sits only two points back of the Blues for the league's top spot. The two teams will clash in the final game of the regular season in a match that will crown the Northwest Conference champion.

The Blues wasted no time asserting their intent. In the fourth minute, Takahiro Hikida finished clinically off an assist from Remy Marcks, giving Whitman an early lead and setting the tempo for the afternoon. The pressure continued relentlessly as Lucas McAllister doubled the advantage in the 18th minute, slotting home a strike after being set up by Jude Clum-Stockton.

Kevin Serrano put the Pios very much behind the eight ball with a third goal at the 25-minute mark, with McAllister and Clum-Stockton again delivering pinpoint assists. The first half ended with Whitman firmly in control, having generated 15 shots to just 3 from the Pioneers.

The Whitman defense, anchored by goalkeeper Niclas Isensee and Tait Whittemore, ensured there would be no comeback. Isensee recorded three saves in the opening 45 before handing off to Whittemore, who preserved the clean sheet with several key stops in the second half.

Before taking on PLU, the Blues will visit Puget Sound on Saturday, Nov. 8. Kickoff is set for 1:45 p.m.
