Women's Soccer Dominates George Fox, 5-0

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College women's soccer team earned a dominating 5-0 victory over George Fox University in Northwest Conference play on Saturday at James Hayner Field. The win matched the team's most lopsided triumph of the season as five different players got on the scoresheet.

"A fantastic win today. I am so happy for the players," said head coach Michelle Voiland. "They have been working so hard  and been positive and patient. Today the group was able to turn shots into goals. We are looking forward to honoring our seniors tomorrow."

Whitman struck early, with Emoree Lash scoring at under two minutes into the game off an assist from Avery Cohen to set the tone. Katherine Sand added a solo goal at 11:03 to give the Blues a 2-0 lead. Leah Barnes found the net next at 22:27, assisted by Erisa Baba, extending the advantage to 3-0.

Just before halftime, Bailey Bell put Whitman up 4-0 with a goal assisted by Emma Foley at 41:53. The scoring concluded in the second half when Ella Johnson scored unassisted at 82:47, completing the 5-0 win.

Eleanor Johnson earned the clean sheet for Whitman in goal, making one save while the defense stifled George Fox's attack, conceding only one shot on target all match. Whitman dominated possession and outshot George Fox 11-1, showcasing a commanding performance both offensively and defensively.

This convincing win improves Whitman's conference record to 3-3-7 and overall to 4-4-9, showcasing their balanced attack with five different goal scorers and a resilient defensive effort.
The Blues return to action on Sunday for Senior Day against Lewis & Clark. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
