Bartok Notches 1,000th Career Dig, Blues Fall To UPS

TACOMA, Wash. - The Whitman College women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 season with a hard-fought four-set loss to the University of Puget Sound on Saturday night at Memorial Fieldhouse. Set scores were 16-25, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25.

Addie Belt and Sammy Holmer both led the Blues with 12 kills apiece, Arina Gushchina posted a match-high 16 digs and Moana Massey recorded a team-best 29 assists.

Despite the loss, the night featured a milestone achievement for senior defensive specialist Jamie Bartok, who recorded her 1,000th career dig, capping off a remarkable tenure with the Blues (10-13, 9-7 NWC). Bartok stood out in her final match, securing her 1,000th career dig early in the contest and delivering a trademark performance in her last collegiate game, tallying 10 digs and playing a pivotal role in the back row.

With back-to-back losses to two top Northwest Conference teams to close the season, Whitman saw Willamette, winners of three straight, overtake the Blues for the fourth and final spot in the Northwest Conference Tournament, ending Whitman's postseason hopes this year.

Though the season closed just short of a tournament berth, the nine conference wins and overall fifth-place finish was the most since 2017. The Blues battled into the final weekend still with an opportunity for postseason play, but it was not to be.
