Men's Tennis Falls To Amherst, Tops CLU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Whitman College men's tennis team picked up its first victory on its Southern California trip after splitting a pair of matches on Wednesday. Whitman fell to No. 13 Amherst to open the day 7-0 but earned the split with a 5-2 road win at Cal Lutheran.

The Mammoths dominated the Blues in a match played at the Biszantz Family Tennis with Amherst sweeping all singles matches.

It was a different story later that evening though against CLU as the Blues won the doubles point then closed the door in singles to claim their first victory on the trip.

The doubles teams of Charles Rush and Artem Manov, and Lucas Huang and Cameron Yang earned a pair of hard-fought wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts, respectively. Rush/Manov dominated their tiebreaker 7-6 (7-0) and Huang/Yang topped their opponent 7-5

Alexander Stage, Artem Manov and Braeden Thomas all swept their three singles wins to clinch the match with Alejandro Raffo winning to close the match.

Whitman returns to the court on Thursday for a single match at Caltech set for 10:00 a.m.
