NEWBERG, Ore. - The Whitman College baseball team played George Fox in two tightly contested Northwest Conference contests. The Blues came out on top in both, winning 2-0 in 11 innings in the opener before completing the sweep with a 6-5 win in the nightcap.
Whitman 2 George Fox 0 (11 innings)
The Blues were entangled in a pitchers duel for the second straight conference game, this time it was Wyatt Adams who turned in one of the finest outings of his career. He tossed nine scoreless innings, allowing only three hits, issuing five walks and striking out six.
Adams did not factor in the decision however as the game headed to extra innings with nary a run by either team on the scoreboard. The dominance must have rubbed off on
Carl Moland-Kovash who pitched a perfect 10th and 11th inning. He struck out three of the six batters he faced and earned the win after the Blues scored a pair in the 11th inning.
Tristan Buehring singled then stole second with one out before Nate Petz doubled him home for the game's first run. Petz then advanced to third on a passed ball and came home on a sacrifice fly out from AJ Romero (2 H, 1 RBI).
Nate Korahais and Beck Maguire both had two hits for the Blues with one of Maguire's being a double.

The nightcap saw the Blues take a big lead and the Bruins tie the game with four runs in sixth inning. Petz again came up with the game winning RBI. He laid down a beautiful bunt along the third base line allowing Halen Otte (1 H, 2 R, 1 RBI) to scamper home from third with what proved to be the final run of the game.
Korahais again had an excellent day at the plate along with Buehring. Both had three hits with Korahais tripling and Buehring doubling home runs.
Oliver Brown started and pitched five complete, but it was Rylan Burigsay's stellar performance out of the Whitman bullpen that earned the win for himself and the Blues. He surrendered only one hit over four scoreless innings and allowed only two bases on balls.
The Blues and Bruins close out the series on Sunday with a single game beginning at 11:00 a.m.
