Jack McManus Sets 10K Program Record

TACOMA, Wash. - Qualifying times, personal bests and a program record highlighted the day of achievement for the Whitman College distance track team at the Payton-Shotwell Invitational hosted by the University of Puget Sound on Saturday at Payton Field.

The big news of the day came when Jack McManus broke Reilly McVay's program record in the 10,000 meter by three seconds.

The 5000 meter saw three Whitman runners deliver qualifying times to the upcoming Northwest Conference Championship. Ellis Pryor (4th, 15:21.66) and Jonathan Grothe (5th, 15:22.91) did so for the men and achieved personal bests in the process.

Dori Buttleman also qualified for the 5000 meter at the Championships by topping the field with a race time of 19:12.11. Payton Davies placed fourth (19:33.70).

In addition, Maleda Sims set a personal best mark in the 200 meter and also qualified for the NWC Championship.
