Men's Tennis Takes Down Willamette, LC State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College men's tennis team delivered a pair of quality wins on Saturday at the Whitman Tennis Courts. The Blues first overwhelmed Willamette 7-0, then delivered an impressive 4-3 victory over NAIA No. 24 Lewis-Clark State College.

Whitman 7 Willamette 0
The Blues opened with a dominant 7-0 win over Willamette in the Northwest Conference match of the day. The win keeps Whitman atop the league standings at 9-0, the lone undefeated team but just one match ahead of George Fox.

Whitman hosts Pacific on Sunday before a huge showdown against the aforementioned Bruins next Saturday.

The Blues cruised in every doubles and singles match. Cameron Yang and Braeden Thomas kicked things off with a dominant 6-0 win at third doubles, then Artem Manov and Charles Rush won at the two to clinch the point.

Thomas and Charles Boyden had the most dominant wins at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Both won 6-0, 6-0 with Boyden's win clinching the win for the Blues.

Whitman 4 LC State 3
The Blues fell handily 7-0 at LC State earlier this season but atoned for it in a big way.

Lucas Huang had a stellar match, winning a doubles point clinching victory on the No. 3 court with Yang, before kickstarting singles play with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win over Nell Rollin at third singles.

The Blues led 2-0 after Huang's singles win, but found themselves trailing and needing victories on both the No. 1 and No. 6 courts to win the match. Thomas came through first with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win at the six to tie the score. Then, with everything on the line, Alexander Stage did the same at first singles and topped Pablo Herrera 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-2 to give the Blues the win.

Whitman closes out the weekend on Sunday with a NWC match against Pacific. Start time is set for 11:00 a.m.
