McManus, Buttleman Pace Blues in 10K at NWC Championships

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Northwest Conference Track & Field Championship got underway on Saturday with a handful of Whitman College runners taking place in the men's and women's 10000 meter race.

The event saw a combined four personal bests from the Blues and a trio of top 10 finishes. Jonathan Grothe (12th, 32:14.38) and Henry Roller (22nd, 33:04.41) both hit a personal best mark, and Jack McManus led the men's contingent with a seventh-place finish (31:14.95).

Dori Buttleman and Payton Davies took on the field in the women's 10000 meter with both achieving personal best times. Buttleman placed fifth overall (39:09.26) and Davies crossed the finish line just behind her for sixth (40:30.88).

The second and final day of the Championship gets underway on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
