Women's Soccer Plays Carroll College To 1-1 Draw

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - With both goals scored in the first half, the Whitman College women's soccer team battled Carroll College (Mont.) to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon in James Hayner Field.

"Today was a very good game," said head coach Michelle Voiland. "Both teams played a strong match. I was happy with our composure after they scored. We did well to get a goal back and had some excellent chances to win the game. I also enjoyed our ability to close out the game when they began to go more direct. We are looking forward to starting Northwest Conference play next weekend. Go Blues!!

The Saints struck first when Brynn Johnson scored just 32 seconds into the match, but the Blues responded in the 35th minute with a goal from Gracia Larson to even the score. Neither side broke through in the second half, leaving the contest level at one apiece.

Eleanor Johnson and Seanee Still split time in net for the Blues, both posting quality saves to help the Blues earn the result in their final regular season non-conference game. Johnson turned away five Saint shots in the first half and Still registered two saves in her goalless 45 minutes of action in the second half.

Whitman kicks off Northwest Conference play this weekend with matches against Pacific and Willamette, both at Hayner Field.
