Men's Tennis Advances In Single and Doubles at ITA's

NEWBERG, Ore. - The Whitman College men's tennis team served up the 2025 fall season on Friday with the opening rounds of singles and doubles in the ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championships. All matches are being hosted by George Fox University

Doubles play saw a slew of Blues teams advance through the opening two rounds to play in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

The top-seeded pair of Alexander Stage and Guillermo Rodriguez played their first match in the second round after a first round bye and dispatched Linfield 8-0.

The other three Whitman tandems handled their business as well, all advancing with first round byes and dominating their second-round matchups.

Five Blues survived opening day to remain in the winners bracket of singles. Each will play their round of 16 matches on Saturday.

The top-seeded Stage breezed after his first-round bye, but three of the five Blues needed to pull out two victories today to secure a round of 16 spot. Cooper Wyngarden went three sets to earn an opening round win before sweeping his opponent in the second round. Henry Kaufman also had to put his foot on the gas to outlast his opening round opponent in a second-set tiebreaker before winning in three sets in round two.

Action on Saturday begins with doubles play at 8:00 a.m.
