Baba Factors Into All Three Goals In Women's Soccer Win Over George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. – Erisa Baba scored twice and assisted on another goal Saturday afternoon, including the game-winner in the 84th minute, as the Whitman College women's soccer team beat George Fox 3-2 in Northwest Conference play at Austin Sports Complex.

George Fox (2-13-1, 1-12-1 NWC) scored first. Lindsey Kong finished a pass from Maddilan Twichell in the 15th minute.

Baba, entering off the bench, tied the game in the 40th minute. She scored unassisted 10 minutes after entering the match, sending the teams into halftime tied 1-1.

Whitman took the lead early in the second half. Avery Cohen had two shots in the first eight minutes after the break, and in the 54th minute she turned Baba's pass into her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

The Bruins tied it 2-2 in the 63rd minute on an unassisted goal by Morgan Phalen.

Baba went back in with less than 10 minutes left and needed fewer than three minutes to score again. Nana Tanikawa set her up in the 84th minute, just 36 seconds after Tanikawa entered the game. It was Baba's third goal of the season.

Whitman goalkeeper Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky held the lead with a save on Chloe Rocha just 12 seconds after the go-ahead goal. She finished with three saves and improved to 10-4-2.
The Blues outshot George Fox 10-8, put six shots on target to the Bruins' five, and had 54% of possession. Whitman also led 5-3 in corner kicks. George Fox was called for all 14 fouls in the match.
