WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Emoree Lash and Leah Barnes scored second-half goals as the Whitman College women's soccer team secured a 2-0 Northwest Conference victory over George Fox on Sunday at James Hayner Field.

The win kept the Blues level with Puget Sound as the conference's only remaining teams with perfect Northwest Conference records. Whitman improved to 7-1-2 overall and 6-0 in NWC play, while George Fox fell to 1-7-1 overall and 0-6-1 in conference action.

After a scoreless first half, Whitman broke through in the 56th minute. Chloe Anderson set up Lash, who finished at the 55:54 mark for her second goal of the season and a 1-0 Blues lead. Lash was able to get to a loose ball inside of the six yard box and tap it past Bruin keeper Marisa Lam for what turned out to be the gamewinner

Whitman added an insurance goal in the 79th minute when Barnes scored unassisted off of a corner kick at 78:12, also recording her second goal of the season.

The teams finished even with six shots apiece, but Whitman held a 5-2 edge in shots on goal and generated five corner kicks to George Fox's three. The Bruins held a slight 51-49 advantage in possession, but Whitman goalkeeper Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky made two saves to complete the clean sheet.

Lam recorded three saves for the Bruins. Whitman's defense limited George Fox to one shot on target, a 32nd-minute attempt by Sophia Mapes, in the first half before turning aside Erin Lam's shot in the 67th minute.

The Blues and aforementioned Puget Sound Loggers will match wits for the first time this season when Whitman travels west to take on Pacific Lutheran on Saturday and Puget Sound on Sunday. Both kickoffs are slated for 2:45 p.m.
