Men's Tennis Falls To No. 11 Babson

Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. – In the midst of a grueling Southern California swing, the Whitman College men's tennis team pushed No. 11 Babson on several courts before the Beavers pulled away for a 6–1 victory at the Claremont Club.

Whitman's lone point came in singles with the match already decided. Guillermo Rodriguez rallied from a set down to win in three sets for the final match of the afternoon.

The Blues nearly took an early lead after doubles play. The Whitman pair of Rodriguez and Hanri Luo fell 6-2 in the first match to finish, leaving the Blues needing to win on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Charles Rush and Artem Manov were able to do so at the two, but Alexander Stage and Niklas Jensen were unable to claim victory on the No. 1 court, both 6-3 scores.

Whitman fell in straight sets in each of their singles losses, but never went down without a fight. The closest of those defeats came at the one where Stage fell to Alex Merson 7-5, 6-3.

The Blues will have one day off before they gear up for two matches on Friday, March 20 against Colorado College and Caltech.
