Men's Golf Tops Southern Virginia in Head-to-Head Medal Match Duel

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Whitman College men's golf team outlasted Southern Virginia University 5½–3½ in a tightly contested match-play showdown on Thursday, with the Blues using steady play across the lineup to secure the team victory in medal match format.

Senior Mason Remington led the charge with a composed round of 71 to earn a key win over Caden Dertnagole, while Eshan Singh added another crucial point with a gritty one-stroke victory over Will Agnew (78–79). First-year Dillon Schrock also came through for the Blues, carding an 81 to defeat Sam Buckwalter (91) by 10 strokes.

Whitman, who beat Southern Virginia in back-to-back competitions, picked up a half point from John Malsam, who tied Sam Young with matching rounds of 80. Despite close setbacks from Grady Brown (71–70), Ben Sweet (75–74), and Caelan Wobbrock (78–77), the Blues' depth ultimately proved decisive in the overall tally.

Next up for the Blues is the all-important NWC Spring Classic set to take place April 4-5 in Tacoma, Wash.
