PREVIEW: Men's Tennis Travels To Cleveland To Open NCAA Run

INDIANAPOLIS - Whitman College will open its return trip to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament against Asbury this weekend, as the Blues head back to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio for the second straight season.

Whitman and Asbury will square off on Friday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time (2:00 p.m. Eastern Time) with the winner set to take on Mary Washington, which enters the regional at 20-6 and earned a first-round bye as a nationally ranked squad.

CWRU will host all matches of the five-team pod which makes up three rounds of NCAA Tournament action.

Whitman punched its ticket to the national tournament by claiming a second consecutive Northwest Conference Tournament championship, sweeping Whitworth 4-0 in the title match to secure the league's automatic berth. The Blues rode dominant doubles play and straight-set singles wins throughout the conference tournament and enter NCAA play at 17-5 on the season.

For the second year in a row, Whitman will open its NCAA run on the road at Case Western Reserve, one of several opening round hosts for the early rounds of the 44-team championship. Last spring, the Blues advanced to the second round before bowing out to the host Spartans, experience they hope to build on in this year's return to Cleveland.

Live scoring and streaming links, as well as the Tournament Central page will be available soon.
