BB16 AC Holloway

BJ Holloway

Holloway joined the Whitman baseball staff in the summer of 2015. His primary responsibilities will include coaching the infield and as the team's batting coach.

A native of the Northwest, Holloway returns to the area after serving as an assistant at the University of Alabama–Huntsville the previous seasons. He helped the Division-II Chargers to a 36-11-1 record in 2015.

A standout player at Henley High School (Klamath Falls, Ore.) during his prep days, Holloway signed a Western Kentucky University before transferring to the University of Montevallo (Ala.) and starting at shortstop for head coach Greg Goff, who now leads the Louisiana Tech program. During Holloway's time at Montevallo he helped lead the Falcons to their first NCAA D-II postseason berth where they turned that opportunity into a spot in the 2006 D-II World Series. Montevallo went on to record a school-record 47 wins the following spring.

"I could not be more thrilled to have BJ join our staff," says head coach Brian Kitamura. "He is one of the top young coaches in the nation and is an outstanding instructor of the game. It will be exciting to have him working with our players as we push a new brand of Whitman baseball forward with the coming season.

"His tireless work ethic and record of success will be instrumental in helping build the culture we desire within our program."

Holloway is joined in Walla Walla by his wife, Lisa.
