WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Depsite a match-high 15 kills by Alex Graves, the
Whitman College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-13,
25-17, 25-17) to the host squad Saturday afternoon as the Colorado College Classic wrapped
up a two-day run in Colorado Springs.
Colorado upped its season record to 8-5. Whitman, which doesn't have a senior on its roster this fall, dropped to 0-9.Â
Graves and Kelsie Butts with 11 digs apiece led a well-balanced
defensive effort for the Missionaries. Whitman also got nine digs from
Katie Miller, eight from Jessica Brice, six from Breanne Robirds and
five from Krystin Norman.
Norman, a first-year setter, also handed out 21 assists.
Graves was one of nine players named to the all-tournament team. She
averaged 3.69 kills and 3.70 digs in her 14 tournament games.
Whitman
returns home next weekend for its Northwest Conference openers. It
hosts Lewis & Clark at 7 p.m. Friday and Willamette at 5 p.m.
Saturday.Â
