9/13/2008 5:00:00 PM

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Depsite a match-high 15 kills by Alex Graves, the Whitman College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-13, 25-17, 25-17) to the host squad Saturday afternoon as the Colorado College Classic wrapped up a two-day run in Colorado Springs.

Colorado upped its season record to 8-5. Whitman, which doesn't have a senior on its roster this fall, dropped to 0-9.

Graves and Kelsie Butts with 11 digs apiece led a well-balanced defensive effort for the Missionaries. Whitman also got nine digs from Katie Miller, eight from Jessica Brice, six from Breanne Robirds and five from Krystin Norman.

Norman, a first-year setter, also handed out 21 assists.

Graves was one of nine players named to the all-tournament team. She averaged 3.69 kills and 3.70 digs in her 14 tournament games.

Whitman returns home next weekend for its Northwest Conference openers. It hosts Lewis & Clark at 7 p.m. Friday and Willamette at 5 p.m. Saturday.
