Unblemished afternoon in Bratton

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Two up, two down Saturday at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center as Whitman College's 18th-ranked men's team took care of business by rolling to a 9-0 Northwest Conference victory over visiting Willamette University in the late morning, then raced past Spokane Community College by the same score in a non-conference bout.

Whitman jumps to 7-3 overall and 5-0 within the league after downing the Bearcats (1-5, 1-4 NWC).

Among the strongest outings over the course of the day came from Whitman's Nishaant Limaye. The first-year from Lake Forest Park, Washington, teamed with Trevor Fennessy in an 8-1 win at 3-doubles in the Willamette match before Limaye won out 6-2, 6-3 later at No. 3 singles. He closed his day with perfection against Spokane, first registering an 8-0 rout at No. 3 doubles with teammate Azur Ali, then pounding out a 6-0, 6-0 win over Spokane's Colton Erho at 1-singles.

Fennessy added a 2-doubles win with Luke Targett and and a No. 3 singles win against Spokane to round out his Saturday, and Azur also picked up a win at No. 6 singles against Willamette.

Whitman entertains Linfield College Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in a conference match before heading into California over spring break for four non-conference matches.
