Sage Ali scored a game-high five goals,
Chantal Arnold and
Isabel Regonini each added four more and the Whitman College women's lacrosse team, despite playing one player down the entire match, rebounded from Saturday's loss with a 23-3 win at Pacific (Ore.) in Northwest Conference play Sunday at Hanson Stadium.
The shorthanded Blues (6-4, 4-2 NWC) scored 12 unanswered goals in the first half en route to a 15-1 lead at the break. Whitman spread the wealth early with Regonini, Arnold, Olivia Engle and Nina Moore all scoring to give Whitman a 6-1 lead 3:28 into the game.
Ali then got in on the action, scoring back-to-back goals just after the midway point of the half then adding her third with 2:15 to play.
The Blues controlled possession in the second half and kept their defense at a high level. Hailey Mount caused three turnovers and scooped up three groundballs with Moore adding two groundballs and three caused turnovers to her three goals. Anna Kilo added a team-high four groundballs.
Amber Lancia scored a pair of goals for the Boxers with Mackenzie Brown adding a team-best five groundballs.
Piper Spencer started and played the majority of the game in goal, making five saves and allowing just the three goals. Rachel Araiza posted three saves in a full 60 minutes for Pacific.
The Blues retake the field with a midweek home contest vs. Whitworth this Wednesday, Apr. 17 at 5:00 p.m.
