Women's Lacrosse Too Much For Whitworth

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Led by a season-high six goals from Nina Moore, the Whitman College women's lacrosse team scored 15 first-half goals en route to a dominant 19-3 win over Whitworth in Northwest Conference action Wednesday at the Whitman Athletic Fields.

Piper Spencer and Anna Cadigan split time in goal for the Blues (7-4, 5-2 NWC) with both making two saves. Laura Wells made six saves for the Pirates (1-11, 1-8 NWC) in a full 60 minutes of action.

The Blues wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Sage Ali (4 goals, 3 assists) scored two of the game's first three goals inside of the opening three minutes. Moore added back-to-back goals to bring the Whitman lead to 10-0 with just over 20 minutes to play in the half.

Ali Pope (3 goals) scored consecutive goals to burgeon the lead to 14 before Whitworth got on the board late in the half. Carolyn Quinn netted a shot past Spencer but Whitman still carried a 15-1 lead into the break.

With a running clock in the second half, the Blues tacked on four more goals and coasted to the win. Isabel Regonini added three goals and two assists and Olivia Engle provided the defensive presence with four groundballs and four caused turnovers.

Hannah Meador and Shay Clark joined Quinn as Whitworth's goalscorers.

The Blues retake the field this Saturday, hosting Puget Sound for a Northwest Conference Senior Day match set to start at 1:00 p.m.
