WALLA WALLA, Wash. - On Senior Day at the Whitman Outdoor Tennis Courts, the Whitman College women's tennis team concluded its regular season with an 8-1 defeat of Whitworth in Northwest Conference play on Saturday.

Before the match, the Blues honored seniors Lori Sheng and Mary Hill for their years of service to Whitman Tennis.

Whitman (10-6, 7-1 NWC) dominated on the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles courts to ensure itself of the lead heading to singles play. Anastasiya Redkina and Audrey Grigore topped the Pirate pair of Marissa Kirk and Madelyn Parkey 8-2 at the three before Hill and Andrea Gu took down Erica Lee and Emma Jo Wiley on the No. 3 court. The Whitman pair of Sheng and Kattie Pak narrowly lost 8-7 (7-5) at the two to conclude doubles play.

The Blues won all singles matches, clinching the victory on the No. 6 court when Kattie Pak swept Parkey 6-0, 6-2.

The most competitive singles match came at the three when Redkina went up a set against Wiley and completed the sweep in a second-set tiebreaker for a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win.

The Blues now set their sights on next week's Northwest Conference Tournament which will take place at Linfield beginning Saturday, Apr. 27.
