Rosell, Bonner Claim ITA Regional Doubles Title

TACOMA, Wash. — The Whitman College women's tennis team closed the 2026 ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championships with a doubles championship and two Blues reaching the singles semifinals.

Renata Rosell and Emerson Bonner teamed to win the regional doubles crown, defeating Pacific's Stella Nishimura and Chloe Takahashi 6-0, 3-6, 10-4 in the championship match.

Rosell and Bonner raced through the opening set without conceding a game before Nishimura and Takahashi answered with a 6-3 second-set victory. The Whitman pair responded in the match tiebreaker, pulling away for the 10-4 win to secure the title.

Both Blues also made deep runs in the singles draw. Rosell and Bonner advanced to the semifinals, giving Whitman two of the final four competitors in the regional championship bracket.
Bonner's singles run ended in the semifinals with a straight-sets loss, but Rosell advanced through her semifinal match to reach the championship final, where she fell 6-4, 6-1 to Lewis & Clark's Sonya Drayton.

The weekend also saw an all-Whitman final in the B singles draw with Leah Lovato topping Sadie Lieser 6-4, 6-3

The doubles title capped a strong weekend for Whitman, highlighted by Rosell's runner-up singles finish, Bonner's semifinal appearance and the Blues' championship performance as a tandem.
