Host of Blues In ITA Semifinal Matchups

NEWBERG, Ore. — The Whitman College women's tennis team turned in a strong showing Saturday at the ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championship, hosted by George Fox University.

Renata Rosell and Emerson Bonner advanced to the doubles championship match after winning two matches Saturday. The Whitman pair will play for the regional title at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.

Rosell and Bonner also each won two singles matches to reach the championship-bracket semifinals. Their semifinal matches are scheduled for 9 a.m. Sunday and could square against each other for the title in the championship match later that afternoon

Whitman also placed two players in the semifinals of the B singles draw. Leah Lovato and Sadie Lieser each advanced and will compete at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, also with a chance to play each other in the title match.

The regional championship concludes Sunday in Newberg, with the Blues represented in both singles and doubles competition.
