Blues Take Down Willamette In NWC Action

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Mary Hill won at first doubles and won the match clincher in singles to pace the Whitman College women's tennis team to a dominant 9-0 win over Willamette in Northwest Conference action, Saturday at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center.

After Audrey Grigore and Anastasiya Redkina's 8-2 win to open doubles play, Hill and Andrea Gu ensured the Blues (6-6, 3-1 NWC) of the lead heading to singles play with an 8-2 No. 1 court win over the Willamette (3-6, 1-2 NWC) duo of Sarah Dean and Robin Pashek.

After Lori Sheng and Kattie Pak won at second doubles, the Blues made quick work of the Bearcats in singles play to clinch the win. Redkina won her second match of the day, beating Siena Ginsburg 6-2, 6-0 at the three to push the lead to 4-0. Hill then sealed the match with on the No. 2 court, blanking Pashek 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the win.

Sheng, Gu, Pak and Grigore all swept their Bearcats opponents in singles to close out the match.

The Blues are next in action Friday, Apr. 12 when they travel to Oregon to take on George Fox in more Northwest Conference action.
