Alumnae Game Highlights

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - It was a full Saurday for the Whitman College women's volleyball team. The Blues served up the day by opening fall camp with a three-hour practice then took the court as one for the program's annual alumnae match. The match saw the varsity win in four played sets 25-13, 25-12, 26-24, 15-13.

A young but talented Blues squad took the court in the morning and worked through the basics before closing practice with a short scrimmage. The team features eight newcomers and six returnees as many new faces showcased their talents on the Sherwood Center floor.

After an early afternoon break, the team came together as one against the former Blues who dressed 15 strong for the match. Three newcomers led the way for the Blues with Christina Boxberger, Megan Suka and Ava McCabe each posting a team-high five kills. Boxberger also added a pair of blocks.

Whitman retakes the court on Tuesday, Aug. 20 for a preseason scrimmage against Big Bend Community College. First serve at the Sherwood Center is set for 1:00 p.m.
