Men's Tennis Well Represented In ITA Main Draw Singles, Doubles

NEWBERG, Ore. - After two rounds of main draw singles and doubles action, the Whitman College men's tennis team has a handful of players in the mix at the ITA Fall Regional Championships held at George Fox University.

Singles action saw six Whitman players advance into the round of 16 after each won a pair of matches today. Headlining the group is top-seeded Ben Kirsh who, both in straight sets, topped Camden Camacho to open the tournament then beat teammate Aidan Schutter.

Andreas Mueller-Immergluck and Daniel Foster joined Kirsh in the third round and also defeated fellow Blues teammates. Both in the second round, Mueller-Immergluck topped Tom Chang and Foster ousted John Carter.

Also advancing for the Blues was Matt Biggi, Derek Simonsen and Rajul Chikkalingaiah. 

Three Whitman teams will be featured in tomorrow's main draw doubles quarterfinals. The seeded teams of Kirsh and Foster, and Mueller-Immergluck and Chikkalingaiah won their opening two matches but it was the unseeded duo of Carter and Kai Strawn who navigated their own way to the quarterfinals with two comfortable wins.

Singles action gets underway Sunday at 8:00 a.m. and doubles at 4:00 p.m.
