WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Whitman Athletic Director Kim Chandler has announced the hiring of Jocelyn (JP) Awe as Director of Sports Performance/BFFC. Awe will oversee the strength and conditioning programs for all varsity sports as well as the operations of the Baker Ferguson Fitness Center.

"We are excited to welcome JP to the Whitman Athletics family as our first Director of Sports Performance and the BFFC," said Chandler. "JP rose to the top of a very competitive candidate pool and his credentials speak for themselves. I know that JP is looking forward to working closely with our campus community with the oversight of the BFFC, our state-of-the-art student fitness center, and  I have no doubt that our coaches and student-athletes will also benefit from his expertise in sports performance."

"I am excited to be a part of the Whitman College family and am anxious to get to work," added Awe. "I look forward to working with our student-athletes and teams on helping them exceed their goals!"

Awe comes to Whitman after serving the past five years as the Director of Strength & Conditioning at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. He oversaw the strength and conditioning, and nutrition monitoring of student-athletes from each of the school's 13 varsity sports. Awe also brings Division I experience having assisted with the strength and conditioning programs at both Northwestern University and the University of Minnesota.

Awe earned his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and received his MBA in Management from St. Francis in 2018 during his time heading up the strength & conditioning program for the fighting Saints
