WALLA WALLA, Wash. -
Cameron Yang won in doubles then rallied against the Boxers' top player to help the No. 45 Whitman College men's tennis team to a dominant 9-0 win over Willamette in Northwest Conference play on Easter Sunday.
Whitman (8-11, 5-0 NWC), who remains atop the league standings, rolled through doubles with wins on the No. 3 and No. 1 courts ensuring the lead heading to singles. Diego Guzman and Noah Baker won 8-2 at the three before Artem Manov and Charles Rush took down Pacific's top flight pair of Andrew Kabacy and Quentin Nigbur, 8-5.
The Blues clinched the match quickly in singles with straight-set wins at third and second singles. Manov topped Nigbur for the second time with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the three. Lucas Huang provided the match-clincher and most dominant victory of the match, beating Velibor Mladenovic at the two 6-0, 6-0.
The most exciting match of the day took place at first singles. Yang rallied from a set down to beat Kabacy 6-7, 6-4, 10-3.
The Blues return to action on Sunday, April 6 at George Fox. Start time is set for 11:00 a.m.
