Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College women's tennis team took a break from conference play but continued its winning ways nonetheless, topping Lewis-Clark State 7-2 on Saturday at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center.

The match comes just one day before the Blues square off against George Fox in a battle of undefeated Northwest Conference teams with postseason ramifications on the line.

The Warriors took the opening doubles match but after victories on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, Whitman held a 2-1 lead heading to singles. Jin Yu and Teleya Blunt got Whitman's first point after beating Heidi Moyo and Beatriz Lambru at the one, 8-3. The pair of Ilina Jha and Sascha Wells won by the same score at second doubles to give their team the lead.

The Blues won five of the six singles matches with the match-clincher coming on the No. 2 court. Blunt beat Lambru in straight sets at the one to put the Blues one win from victory, then Jha sealed the win with an exciting match at the two, beating Rayana Shah 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1.

Whitman and George Fox take the court on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
