Women's Tennis Closes Stellar Run at ITA's

PORTLAND, Ore. - An exciting run for the Whitman College women's tennis team came to a close on Sunday at the ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championship.

Advancing the furthest were Whitman's top doubles pair who fell in the championship match of the A Main Draw. After winning two tough matches on Saturday, the pair of Arianna Castellanos and Teleya Blunt played a best of three sets final against Pacific's Cassidy Binder and Stella Nishimura and fell to the Boxer tandem 6-3, 7-6 (6).

Blunt had an excellent showing in singles as well, closing the tournament with a loss in the semifinals. In two close sets, she fell to Lewis & Clark's Susanna Anand 7-6 (3), 7-5. Jin Yu played in the other semifinal match but lost in straight sets to Cassidy Binder who went on to win the tournament.

The B singles draw saw Jules Thompson deliver an excellent showing, advancing all the way to the semifinals before falling to Cassey Hitch of George Fox.

The Blues now set their sights on the spring championship season which gets underway this February.
