Women's Volleyball Dominates In Straight-Set Win Over Bruins

NEWBERG, Ore. - The Whitman College women's volleyball team returned to its winning ways, powering to a straight-set road victory over George Fox in Northwest Conference play on Friday night. Set scores were 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.

Whitman (4-8, 3-2 NWC) seized control with a combination of efficient offense and stifling defense, limiting the Bruins to a .076 team hitting percentage, a season low for a Whitman opponent this season.

Lilli Thompson dominated on both sides of the net, racking up 13 kills on a .706 hitting percentage and adding six digs for a complete performance. Addie Belt added eight kills and eight digs to anchor both ends of the court.

The Whitman defense was superb at the net, finishing with eight total blocks and holding their opponents under .110 hitting in every set.

Jordan Hahn had a team-high eight kills for the Bruins with Isabella Avila adding a team-best 13 digs.

The Blues' blocking and back-row play consistently stifled George Fox, who struggled to find any offensive rhythm across the match. The Bruins were limited to just .036 hitting in the first set, .106 in the second, and .067 in the finale, never mounting a sustained run as Whitman widened the gap in the third set with suffocating defense.

Haylee Pruse and Jamie Bartok posted match highs of 25 assists and 14 digs, respectively.

Whitman returns to action on Saturday at Lewis & Clark. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
