Women's Volleyball Cruises By Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Whitman College women's volleyball team delivered a commanding performance Saturday evening, sweeping Lewis & Clark in straight sets in Northwest Conference action on Saturday night. Set scores were 25-20, 25-12, 25-22.

The victory marked the second time this season that the Blues (5-8, 4-2 NWC) have earned back-to-back wins, further solidifying their mid-season momentum. Arina Gushchina posted a match-high 11 kills on a scorching .417 hitting percentage. Haley Pruse and Jamie Bartok also delivered match-high performances of 24 assists and 12 digs, respectively.

Whitman set the tone early, efficiently navigating a tight first set before pulling away. Their balanced attack kept Lewis & Clark off balance, with strong performances at the net and consistent serving pressure.

In the second frame, Whitman continued their clinical execution both offensively and defensively and after a win and cruising on a wave of momentum, the third set showcased their depth, as Kendall Herman delivered clutch points and Whitman seized the clinching set.

Whitman will look to sustain this winning streak as they return home next weekend for another weekend of conference action, eager to climb further in the standings. The Blues host Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran next Friday and Saturday at the Sherwood Center.
