Women's Tennis Edges Cal Lutheran, 4-3

Box Score THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Arianna Castellanos and Nana Vang teamed for a key doubles victory, Bailey Bell came in as a late entry into singles play and provided the match clincher as the Whitman College women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 win over Cal Lutheran on Tuesday afternoon.

The Blues earned the doubles point after wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Jin Yu and Teleya Blunt delivered a solid 6-3 win at the one to open the scoring. Vang and Castellanos then nabbed the doubles after a critical 7-5 win on the No. 2 court.

Vang pushed the Blues ahead with a 6-0, 6-3 win at third singles, but the Regals got on the board with a victory at the two.

Blunt had an opportunity to clinch the match at the one but fell in three sets leaving the result on the No. 6 court to decide the match. Bell came through, winning the opening-set tiebreaker before claiming a gritty 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-1 victory to give the Blues the win.

Whitman will have a day off before facing Caltech on Thursday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m.
