Women's Tennis Blanks Puget Sound In NWC Action

Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College women's tennis team found a little payback on Saturday, beating the University of Puget 7-0 in Northwest Conference action at the Whitman Tennis Courts.

Whitman's (7-2, 6-1 NWC) lone conference loss came at UPS last month and they now stand level with Pacific at the top of the NWC standings. The win was also the third straight 7-0 victory for the Blues.

Whitman clinched the doubles point with wins at the one and three. The first doubles team of Arianna Castellanos and Nana Vang set the tone with a dominant 6-0 win before Erica Mock and Jules Thomspon won 6-3 on the No. 3 court to grab the doubles point.

The Blues cruised in singles play with sweeps on every court. Ilina Jha finished first with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the two. Mock followed with her win at the three, then Bailey Bell clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory on the No. 5 court.

The Blues will look to continue their impressive form when they host Lewis & Clark on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
