WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Whitman College is proud to announce that alumnus Walter Lum, class of 2023, has signed a professional contract with the New Taipei CTBC DEA, a premier team in the Taiwan Professional Basketball League.

A standout guard during his time at Whitman, Lum was known for his exceptional court vision, defensive tenacity, and leadership both on and off the floor. He was instrumental in the Blues' back-to-back conference championships, consistently leading the team in assists and steals, and earning All Conference recognition.

"We're incredibly proud of Walter and all that he's accomplished," said Whitman head men's basketball coach, John Lamanna. "He's a tireless worker, a selfless teammate, and a great representative of Whitman basketball. Seeing him take his talents to the professional level is a well-deserved next step."

The New Taipei CTBC DEA, based in New Taipei City, is one of the League's top teams, known for its competitive roster and growing presence in international basketball. Lum's signing marks a significant milestone in his journey from Whitman to a professional player overseas.
