Personal Bests Aplenty For Whitman At Pacific Open.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Whitman College distance track stacked the results sheet at the Pacific Open on Saturday, turning in 12 top-10 finishes, eight top-five performances and five personal bests.

The men's competition saw Alex Burns headlined the day with a wire-to-wire win in the men's 5000 meters, breaking the tape in a personal-best 15:21.95. He led a dominant Whitman pack that swept four of the top five spots, as Jack Rousseau took second in 15:43.10, Turner Crockett placed third in 15:55.42, and Danny Steinberg crossed fifth in 16:09.08. Paul Florence added Whitman's fifth PR of the meet with a ninth-place 16:35.68 to give the Blues five runners in the top 10 of the 5000.

Steinberg doubled back with another top-five finish in the 1500, clocking a personal-best 4:15.49 for fourth place, while teammate Theo Lydgate wasn't far behind in sixth at 4:17.22. 

In the 800, Steinberg led the way again with a ninth-place 2:07.20, followed by first-year Micah Knight in 13th at 2:10.78 for his own PR and Lydgate in 14th at 2:11.08.

Addyson Puri delivered Whitman's top women's finish of the day with a fourth-place run in the 400 meters, stopping the clock in 1:06.44. Kaela Eckel joined her in the top 10 with a sixth-place at 1:10.94.. Eckel added one of Whitman's five personal bests in the 200 meters, running 30.70 to finish 11th overall.

In the women's 800, Emme Rousseau raced to a fourth-place finish in 2:39.31, giving the Blues another top-five showing in the middle distances. Payton Davies led the way in the women's 5000 with a sixth-place 19:46.30, and Lily Kamila capped Whitman's scoring presence in 11th at 20:31.78.

Next up for the Blues is the Jenn Boyman Memorial hosted by Linfield University on Saturday, April 4 at 10:00 a.m.
