Whitman Baseball: Boys of Summer

The Blues are WORLDWIDE! With the 2026 Northwest Conference season coming to an end, we look forward to the summer ball season: "Summerball is an outstanding opportunity for our players to continue their development by competing at a high level," explained head coach Brian Kitamura, "We are fortunate to have many great partnerships with teams across the nation and internationally." 19 Blues will be participating in 10 different leagues across 4 countries, including Canada, Poland, Japan, and the United States.

Rising Senior Sam Mieszkowski-Lapping, who will be playing for the Polish National Team, touches on the opportunity to compete internationally: "This summer I got the opportunity to head to Europe and compete for the National Polish Baseball Team. I am looking forward to competing for my native country and playing for something that matters. I'm excited to spend the summer traveling in Europe and compete against other countries on a big stage."

Whether they are traversing the globe or competing in their own neck of the woods, the summer remains a great chance to compete at a high level. Sophomore Hawthorne Moody will be staying in the PNW: "I am playing for the DubSea Fish Sticks in the Pacific International League. I am excited to continue developing as a player under Coach Cribby and to compete alongside a great group of teammates."

The summer presents unique opportunities for the players off of the field as well. Carl Moland-Kovash '27, who will be returning to the Yakima Valley Pippins of the WCL, tells us that he is "looking forward to being in a highly competitive league that prioritizes development  and long-term success. As well as playing great baseball this summer, I am also looking forward to all of the outdoor opportunities the Yakima Valley and its waterways provide!"
