Jensen Claims Singles Crown at ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championship

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Niklas Jensen captured the singles championship Monday to highlight the Blues' strong finish at the 2026 ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championships, hosted by Whitman College.

Jensen, the tournament's top seed, won twice Monday in the men's open singles main draw. He opened the day with a 6-1, 6-2 semifinal victory before defeating Zach Moore of Pacific University 6-4, 6-0 in the championship match.

Jensen advanced to the final after a dominant run through the later rounds. He defeated Keita Shoji 6-0, 6-3 in the quarterfinals Sunday, then continued his momentum Monday morning against Rowe to secure a place in the title match.

Jensen also reached the men's open doubles championship match alongside Hassan Ammar. The Whitman duo, seeded third, earned an 8-2 semifinal win and knocked off Matthew Froslan and Ryan Ashley, 8-7 (5), in the quarterfinal round.

In the doubles final, Jensen and Ammar fell just short against Lewis & Clark's Kaden Sigurdsson and Noah Sutin. The Pioneers prevailed 5-7, 7-6 (8), 10-8 in a tightly contested championship match.

Whitman also claimed the doubles consolation title as Cooper Wyngarden and Pharrell Redmond completed an unbeaten run through the consolation bracket. The pair closed the tournament with an 8-2 win over Fuhrmann and Chong in the consolation final.

With his singles title, Jensen now heads to Georgia to play against the nation's elite at the ITA Cup held Oct. 15-18.
