Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pierce, Chapko Both Score To Pace Whitman Past Mary Washington

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Whitman College men's soccer team struck twice in the opening 12 minutes and made the advantage stand up defensively, blanking Marymount University 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Long Bridge Park.

The win was Whitman's first of the 2026 season and capped the Blues' two-match trip to Virginia.

Henry Pierce put Whitman (1-1) in front early, scoring his first goal of the season in the fourth minute. Keegan Chapko doubled the lead less than eight minutes later, finding the net in the 12th minute for his first goal of the year.

The Blues controlled much of the opening half, taking an 8–6 edge in shots and a 3–0 advantage in corner kicks while building their two-goal cushion. Whitman finished with a 12–9 advantage in total shots, including a 7–4 edge in shots on goal, and held a 5–3 edge in corners.

Marymount (0-2-1) pushed for a response after halftime, earning all three of its corner kicks during the second period, but the Whitman defense held firm. Goalkeeper Tait Whittemore made four saves across 90 minutes to record the shutout and earn the win.

Adam Elonai made five saves for the Saints, while Whitman's Alex Evans and Chapko each registered two shots on target. Michah Vogler paced Marymount with three shots, two of which were on frame.
