Mary Hill captured points at the top spots in singles and doubles on Saturday for Whitman College's women's tennis team, helping the 26th-ranked Blues roll to a 9-0 Northwest Conference victory over host Pacific Lutheran University.
The win, on the Lutes' home courts at the Sprinker Rec Center, lifts Whitman's overall record and conference mark to a matching 4-0, while the loss leaves PLU at 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Hill teamed with
Hanna Greenberg at 1-doubles for a quick 8-3 victory over Caroline Dreher and Megan Beyers. And then in singles play Hill picked up a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Dreher at the No. 1 spot.
A sweep of the three doubles matches was completed by the Nos. 2 and 3 pairings, both by 8-0 scores.
Andrea Gu and
Lori Sheng picked up the shutout at No. 2 and
Allie Wallin and
Jenna Gilbert blanked their opponents at No. 3.
All six singles players rolled to straight-set victories to allow Whitman to close the day without surrendering a point.
Next up for the squad is a non-conference match Sunday afternoon at NCAA Division I Seattle University.
