SALEM, Ore. - The Whitman College women's tennis team swept in doubles and cruised through singles for 9-0 win at Willamette in Northwest Conference action on Easter Sunday.
The Bearcats posed little challenge to the Blues (11-7, 5-0 NWC) who lost only a combined three games in doubles before winning each singles match in straight sets. Julia Longpre and Erica Mock delivered the most dominant win, an 8-0 shutout at the three over Eva Lief and Alicia Sola.
Whitman secured the win quickly with wins at fifth and fourth singles, both via 6-0, 6-0 scores. Sascha Wells topped Ruby Thompson at the five before Longpre won her second match, this time the clincher over Lief on the No. 4 court.
The Blues return to action on Saturday, April 6 against Lewis-Clark State. Match time at the Whitman Tennis Courts is set for 11:00 a.m.
