BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship got underway on Tuesday with the Whitman College men's team closing with a Top 20 finish after the opening round played at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Whitman currently sits at No. 20 in the 43-team field with only the top half making the cut following Wednesday's second round. The Blues sit one stroke back at seven over par behind St. John Fisher and Franklin & Marshall who are tied at 18th.

Ben Sweet led the way for Whitman, shooting an even par good for a tie for 46th. All five Whitman golfers carded no more than five strokes apart from each other. Alexander Knox finished one over 73, Mason Remington two over 74, Eshan Singh four over 76, and Jack Garnsey at five over 77.

The Blues are competing in their first NCAA Championship since 1986 and are one round away from advancing to Thursday's final round. Whitman will play its second round on Wednesday at the Legacy Golf Club, the second of two courses that all participating teams play on during the championships, on Wednesday.
