Baseball Falls at EOU In Midweek Action

LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Whitman College baseball team took a break from Northwest Conference play for some midweek non-conference action at Eastern Oregon University, falling to the Mountaineers 12-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Optimist Field.

The Blues (11-7) staffed the midweek affair with Tanner Coddington (1-1) earning his first start and Whitman using five out of the bullpen.

EOU did its damage with the longball, belting six homeruns in the game including back-to-back rountrippers in the first inning. McDaniel led the way at the plate with three hits, two of them homers, to go along with three runs and three RBI. Baker added a double and a homerun with two runs scored and two RBI.

AJ Romero, Nate Korahais and Jonah Chang provided the late offense for the Blues, all driving in runs in the seventh inning. Korahais finished with one hit, one run and one RBI.

McCauly (1-1) was credited with the win after starting and pitching two scoreless innings.

The Blues are back to Northwest Conference play this weekend when they start a three-game series at George Fox. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is set for 12:00 p.m.
