SPOKANE, Wash. - The Whitman College women's volleyball team had looked to keep it rolling but was soundly defeated by Whitworth University in straight sets on Tuesday night at the Whitworth Fieldhouse, suffering their first Northwest Conference loss of the season. Set scores were 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.
Whitman struggled to generate offensive momentum throughout the contest, facing a strong defensive effort from the Bucs. The Blues had difficulty with consistency on the attack, recording a team hitting percentage of just .073 over the match—the lowest mark of their conference slate so far.
Sammy Holmer led the Blues with eight kills on a team-high .250 hitting percentage. Jamie Bartok added a match-high 13 digs.
Lauren Kremer led all hitters for Whitworth with 11 kills.
Whitman looks to regroup in its next Northwest Conference matchup as the Blues head to Linfield and will play the Wildcats on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 6:00 p.m.
