Yoo Wins Title, Men's and Women's Golf Conclude NWC Championship

NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – Standout Camila Yoo capped a breakout weekend with the Northwest Conference women's individual championship, leading the Whitman College women's golf team to a third-place finish as the two-day league tournament concluded Monday at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.

Yoo closed 36 holes in a tie for first to force a playoff, then delivered under pressure with an even-par score in the extra session to secure medalist honors and the individual conference crown. Her steady play over both rounds kept her on the first page of the leaderboard throughout the tournament before she sealed the title in the playoff.
"I finished off the first day tied at first which I did not expect," said Yoo "I went to the second round feeling very nervous the whole time and trying to calm myself down every shot. I didn't expect a play off so when they told me about it at the end of the round, I was very nervous. I hit five perfect shots and was able to finish with a win. I think feeling nervous the whole round and trying to calm myself down for five hours straight was preparing me for my playoff to be able to be calm, relaxed and be grateful for the opportunity I've had to play collegiate golf. I also really wanted to make Skip (Molitore) proud as this was his last tournament as our coach!"
Following the championship the Northwest All-Conference men's and women's teams were announced. Yoo was named to the first team on the women's side and Mason Remington and Ben Sweet earned second and third teams honors, respectively.

The top of the women's individual leaderboard was tightly packed, with multiple players separated by only a handful of strokes over 36 holes. Yoo's playoff win broke the deadlock at the top but couldn't help the Blues finish higher than eighth

On the men's side, Whitman wrapped up its own conference championship run with a third-place finish at Pumpkin Ridge. Ben Sweet, fresh off a strong spring that included a playoff win at the Wildcat Invitational, was among four Whitman players in the championship field alongside classmates Grady Brown, Caelan Wobbrock and Mason Remington, giving the Blues one of the most experienced cores in the tournament.
