PREVIEW: Women's Tennis To Open NCAA's Against UMHB

INDIANAPOLIS -  The Whitman College women's tennis is set to return to the national stage for the fourth consecutive season, opening NCAA Tournament play on Thursday, May 7, against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 11:00 a.m. The Blues are part of a 44-team field unveiled by the NCAA, earning their place among the nation's top Division III programs.

The opening rounds will take place in Claremont, Calif., where Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges will serve as host for a five-team regional pod. The site will stage the first three rounds of the tournament, bringing together a competitive group with a berth in the national quarterfinals on the line.

Whitman enters the postseason riding the momentum of a strong spring campaign, one defined by steady lineup depth and consistent doubles play. The Blues have leaned on a balanced roster throughout the year, finding success up and down the lineup while navigating a challenging schedule.

Their first test comes against Mary Hardin-Baylor, a program with its own postseason pedigree. The matchup presents a contrast in styles and will likely hinge on early doubles points and the ability to control tempo in singles play.

For Whitman, the opportunity marks another step in the program's continued presence on the national scene. With the stakes elevated and the field narrowed, the Blues will look to translate their regular-season success into a deep postseason run.

Live scoring and streaming links, as well the Tournament Central, will be forthcoming.
