Blues Win PLU Invitational

DUPONT, Wash.— The Whitman College men's golf team continued its strong fall season Tuesday, capturing the PLU Invitational team title by six strokes over host Pacific Lutheran University at The Home Course.

The Blues posted a two-round total of two-under-par to finish atop the 10-team field. Pacific Lutheran placed second at four-over, while Redlands finished third at 12-over.

Whitman held a two-stroke lead after Monday's opening round before extending its advantage during the final round. The Blues carded a two-over team score in the first round and followed with a 4-under performance Tuesday to secure the victory.

Isaac Elaimy paced Whitman individually, surging 15 places on the final day to finish in a tie for fourth at one-under-par. Elaimy opened the tournament with a two-over round before rebounding with a three-under final round.

Charles Hageman of Redlands earned medalist honors at five-under, while Pacific Lutheran's Soren Bostrom and Lewis & Clark's Joonho Moon tied for second at 3-under.

Whitman placed several golfers near the top of the leaderboard. Mason Remington, Thomas Skinner and Jack Brigham each finished at even par and tied for sixth, while Grady Brown tied for 12th at three-over.

The Whitman women's team also showcased their talents in the women's competition. The Blues placed fifth overall and were led by Katie Jang's 12th-place finish.

Both squads are now under one week away from the climax of the fall season as they travel to Oregon for the NWC Fall Classic on Oct. 4 & 5.
