Amy Fong and Leslie Whitten were doubles partners throughout their four seasons (1996-2000) which included a 36-match NWC winning streak over their last two-plus seasons. The dynamic duo earned All-NWC each of their four seasons.

As senior co-captains, Fong and Whitten not only dominated in doubles, but also, were a one-two punch in singles. Whitten compiled an 11-1 NWC mark while Fong's conference record was 9-1. As juniors, Whitten and Fong compiled a 20-1 doubles record --15-0 in conference -- with Whitten being named NWC Player of the Year.

The duo twice appeared in the NAIA national championships in doubles, winning a first-round match in their second trip. Both qualified in singles for the NAIA championships, but it was on the doubles court where they showed their greatest prowess. In their last three seasons, they posted a conference record of 31-6.

“Not many teams had the one-two punch we had in Amy and Leslie for four years,” said Jayne McCarthy, their coach at Whitman. “They were two very different players, but they were both tremendous players.”
